Grandma Pizza On The BBQ - Using No Knead Dough!

Hello Everyone!

I made this awesome Grandma Pizza Recipe on the Barbeque and I wanted to share with you how I did it!

You know, with summer here, it is hard to bake in a really hot oven in your house, but on your grill.... You can make some of the best pizza pies you could ever imagine.   I was actually toying with the idea of making an out-door brick pizza oven for a while.   But, since mastering this pizza making technique on a standard gas barbeque, I have put that project off..... for a while...

First off, to get started making pizza on your grill, you need to have some dough made for your pizza crust.  This is a great application for the no knead dough that I have made videos of and have written about.  For more information, please feel free to look for my post on No Knead Pizza Dough!

I made this pizza sort of in the style of making a Grandma Pizza!   You need olive oil on the pan to fry the dough.   That makes this pizza pie so delicious.

Ingredients

  • No Knead Pizza Dough
  • Mozzarella Cheese
  • Olive Oil
  • Cubed Organic Tomatoes
  • Sea Salt
  • Basil
  • Lots of Chopped Garlic!
Directions

  1. Fire up your BBQ.  If you have a bread stone, put it on the grill and close the lid.   Let the stone get good and hot.
  2. Strain your tomatoes and try to drain off as much liquid as possible.
  3. Oil the pan and press the dough into a pan all the way to the ends.
  4. Spread the Garlic and any toppings, like I did in the video.
  5. Evenly distribute the tomatoes.   Grind a little sea salt on top.
  6. Top with the Cheese and Basil.
  7. Place on top of your bread stone and close the top of the grill to bake.
  8. Check on it after about 5 minutes and turn on the grill.   Close the top and continue about another 5 minutes....
  9. Remove when the pizza is cooked to perfection.
  10. Let it sit a few minutes before cutting.
I hope you enjoyed this awesome way to make Grandma Pizza on your grill.  In the heat of summer, it is hard to crank your oven up to 500 degrees.   On the grill, you can do it outside...

Please feel free to ask any questions and share this blog with your friends.

-Enjoy this Italian Dish!
